Soul Calibur II Online Updates The Classic Fighter for PS3 & X360

by on July 22, 2013

Has it really been a decade since the Soul Calibur II’s release? Apparently so, as Namco Bandai Games are reviving the Xbox, Gamecube and PlayStation 2 fighter for current generation consoles.

As the name suggests, Soul Calibur II Online is an updated version of the game, but now with online support. Developed by the series’ creators, Project Soul; this fresh lick of paint will feature all the modes featured in the original game, but with added online multiplayer.

The original console versions featured a guest character, exclusive to each version of the game. The PlayStation 2 version had Tekken’s Heihachi, GameCube had The Legend of Zelda’s Link, while the Xbox drew the short straw and got Todd MacFarlane’s Spawn. Obviously, we’re not going to see Link in this version of the game, but will the other guest characters remain or be replaced somehow?

We’ll find out later this year when the game when Soul Calibur II Online comes to Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network. In the meantime, you can enjoy the following screens and trailer:
