FIFA 14 on Vita Treading Old Ground, Yet Again

by on August 22, 2013

FIFA 14 is coming out on every platform imaginable including PlayStation Vita, but the problem is that it is the same game you’ve already played, twice before.

This year marks the third annual release for the franchise on Sony’s handheld and we’ve learned through Eurogamer that history will be repeating itself. Last year, FIFA 13 was criticised as the Vita port was essentially the same as Vita launch title FIFA Soccer, but with the obvious up-to-date transfers and kits.

When Eurogamer asked EA Sports’ David Rutter if this year’s version would play the same way as the original – and in turn, last year’s FIFA 13, Rutter gave a very telling answer:

“It’s the same great gameplay and new kits.”

An EA studio in Romania is handling development on Vita, rather than series stalwarts, EA Canada. If this truly is the case and they’re retreading old ground yet again, this is a real slap in the face of Vita owners. This is just an unashamed cash-in and an insult to fans of the series that want to play on-the-go.
