Notch Ends 0x10c Development, But Fans are On the Case

by on August 19, 2013

Markus Persson, better known as Notch – the creator of Minecraft – has confirmed he is no longer developing the space exploration title, 0x10c.

The game was put on hold back in April, as Notch told Polygon that he was suffering a “weird creative block”.  During a Team Fortress 2 livestream last week, Notch revealed that he had no future plans for the game, but wouldn’t be against another Mojang staffer taking on the project. The rabid Notchinites then took it upon themselves to see what they could do with the difficult-to-pronounce game and create a sort of love-letter to Markus Persson’s vision.

Speaking with USGamer, Shane Dalton, the man leading the charge for this 0x10c-inspired fan project said, this new team will not be using much of what Notch had already built. None of the famed developer’s code will be used, nor will the name. For now, 0x10c will be known as “Project Trillek”.

Effectively, they’re starting over and all remnants of 0x10c will be either indistinguishable, or non-existent.
