Kickstarter Title Mighty No. 9 Will See Xbox 360, Wii U And PS3 Release

by on September 18, 2013

With a whole 13 days left to run on its Kickstarter campaign, Mighty No. 9 – the new game designed by Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune – has secured huge levels of investment, and has reached several of its stretch goals. One of those goals was that an Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation 3 version of the game would be produced if backing passed the $2,200,000 mark.

At the time of writing, the campaign has managed to reach a whopping total of $2,276,160, from 39,825 individual backers. That is now officially the most successful Japanese crowd-funding project to date, and only took a fraction of its 30-day time limit to reach its original goal. The game will also be developed for the previously-announced PC, Mac, and Linux versions, and if the project manages to stretch as far as $3,300,000, next-gen console versions will also be made.

The game is being developed by the original Mega Man creator, and continues the traditional 2D side-scrolling mechanics of those classic games – also being developed by a team full of Mega Man veterans. The game is aiming to evolve the genre and bring a whole new generation of fans to the game. We are very excited about the prospect of this game, and can’t wait to see just how much the project manages to achieve in the end.
