Princess Peach Announced for Super Smash Bros 4

by on September 12, 2013

Today’s daily picture for Super Smash Bros 4 revealed that Princess Peach will appear as a playable fighter in the new Super Smash Bros. game for Wii U and 3DS.

It’s unsurprising that she’s in, but Masahiro Sakurai’s character reveals still tend to catch everyone off guard.

The Mushroom Kingdom’s first lady looks good in the new Smash Bros. artstyle, eschewing the gratuitous detail of Brawl for something bolder, and much closer to a figurine. This is a design concept visible across the board, from Mario’s more subtle denim to Villager’s bold construction.

Don’t forget that the original ‘concept’ of Smash Bros, as shown in the N64 game’s introduction, was simply that someone was playing with their Nintendo toys.

From the screenshots it appears that Peach’s moveset remains largely unchanged, bum shunts and all, but Sakurai’s daily message did read ‘Her moves may be refreshed by the time the games are released’.
