Warframe Will Be PS4 Exclusive For Three Months

by on September 2, 2013

After first stating that Warframe would be only available on PlayStation 4 at launch, and then back-tracking slightly to hint that an Xbox One version could be possible at some point in the future, developers Digital Extreme have now dropped more info that suggests that Warframe may be available on multiple platforms.

Today the company have announced that the free-to-play title Warframe will be exclusive to PlayStation 4 when the system launches in November – but only for three months. They don’t go on to say what other platforms that the game will be made available on, but with Microsoft announcing its new Indie game procedures at Gamescom it looks like an Xbox One release for the game may now be very possible.

Digital Extremes have. however, extolled the virtues of the PS4 and how its new features will integrate into the game. This includes the integrated audio, touch-pad controls and gameplay streaming capabilities that come with the Dual Shock 4 controller, as well as an Android and iOS App called Warframe Nexus that will allow players to interact with the game even when not playing at their console.

It looks like free-to-play titles are already starting to put down a marker on the next generation of games consoles, along with other titles such as the new version of Killer Instinct. This is exciting for gamers, as it brings a whole new pricing and gameplay structure to the living room, that was previously the mainstay of home computers. How well they adapt to consoles will be very interesting to see.
