Guild Wars 2’s Latest Patch – the Twilight Assault – Launches Today
There’s something happening in the Twilight Arbor and, starting from today, Guild Wars 2 players are going to get the chance to find out exactly what it is and try to put a stop to it.
The new patch, Twilight Assault, gives players a brand new, level 80 path through the Twilight Arbor, giving them a chance to fight parallel with Caith to find a way into Scarlet’s secret base and battle the monster at the centre of it all. Things aren’t going to be easy though, and even veteran dungeon-delvers will have to keep their wits about them as they navigate co-op puzzles, traps and newly rebalanced Aetherblade Army mobs.
That’s not all though, the new update adds a slew of new Twilight Assault based Achievements (which give rewards upon their completion), Aether Chests (which can be unlocked after the player has found five Aether keys in and around the Twilight Arbor) and Exotic Nightmare Weapons (different coloured, and rare, versions of the Nightmare Weapon set).
There’s plenty more too, a full list of which can be found over at the official page for the patch here. You never know though, depending on when you’re reading this, you might actually be able to jump straight into the content; providing you’ve already got a bunch of level 80s ready to go.
We were lucky enough to watch a live-stream of the new content over the weekend, and the new level 80 path looks not only interesting and fun, but hugely challenging too. Each of the encounters that you’ll come across, in each of the different rooms, promises to either teach the player a new tactic, or reinforce one that they’ve already been taught. This fact means that even people that think they know every single MMO dungeon tactic will have to stay on their toes if they want to get through everything and get the rewards that are on offer. In fact, the live-stream even had the ArenaNet QA team going through the first part of the path and they even struggled at parts; and these guys work on the content each day. Nice and challenging for people that are looking for that kind of thing.
If you’re a fan of Guild Wars 2, and have been waiting for some new content to pull you back into Tyria, then the Twilight Assault might be exactly what you’ve been waiting for. Jump online, grab it and get that loot!
