World Starcraft II Championship Series Returns In 2014

by on November 21, 2013

eSports has been steadily becoming a more popular and lucrative pastime in recent years, and after a successful 2013, the World Starcraft II Championship Series is looking to make some important changes when it returns in 2014.

An easier to understand schedule, partial region locked qualifier spots and additional WCS partner tournaments are some of the changes listed in a recent Battle.net blogpost. With the tournament becoming an even bigger spectator event, with matches broadcast live over the internet via Twitch, these changes should make for a more competitive and entertaining series of tournaments. Oh, that there’s the small matter of a prize pool of over $1.6million of cash to be won by the most skilled players.

The images below visually interpret some of the new rules, and are explained in more detail, here.
