Co-Op Play Mandatory in Destiny?

by on December 16, 2013

Destiny is without a doubt one of the most anticipated games of next year – and this new generation of gaming in general. We heard more news about the Beta testing scheme last month, but now Bungie have made an announcement that seems to suggest the co-operative missions in the game will actually be mandatory.

The story has been picked up by Official Xbox Magazine, where it is discussed that although players will be able to reject social gaming invites entirely – and give co-operative play a miss – it would certainly be unwise to. Having greater numbers and help in later missions will be close-to necessary, it is hinted. The game also requires you to play online, even if you don’t want to play any competitive or co-operative games.

This is possibly all just talk, and building up the scale and challenge that will be a part of destiny, but it would definitely be big news if players will have to team up in order to make it through the tougher sections, whether they like it or not. We will have to wait until we get our hands on the title before we could really say for sure.
