Ubisoft Release Freedom Cry DLC As Standalone Title

by on February 19, 2014

In an unusual move, Ubisoft have today taken some single-player DLC for one of their big games and turned it into a standalone expansion which can be enjoyed without purchasing the full game.

Freedom Cry, the 8/10 rated DLC for Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag is hitting PlayStation 3 and 4 today as it’s own downloadable title, with a PC version on February 25. This is similar to how last year’s Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon was released.

In this single-player content, you play as former pirate Adewale. Now a fully-blown member of the Creed, he ends up in Haiti, a place where the hideous injustices of slavery are all too common. It is Adewale’s duty to free slaves and assemble his own crew in order to bring down the Carribean’s most ruthless slave owners.
