The Elder Scrolls Online Update 6 Detailed

by on December 6, 2014

A blog update on the official Elder Scrolls Online website has detailed the game’s first expansion of 2015 alongside a look back over its first year at retail.

The next major update will add the Champion and Justice systems.

The Champion System will include new post-level 50 veteran progression changes. Update 6 will include the ability to spend points in Champion Passives and many ability changes that complement the system.

The Justice system is more interesting, as it will add a more Skyrim-style law element to The Elder Scrolls Online.

With Update 6 you’ll be able to steal from vendors, pickpocket NPCs, kill NPCs, and have justice meted out to you by guards.

In Update 6 the Justice system will be purely a PvE experience, but the blog post promises that PvP additions will roll out in a future patch. Game Director Matt Firor said the following regarding the justice system,

To put this into perspective, the Justice System will include huge updates to the very fundamentals of the game. Townspeople will be considered neutral and be attackable, and many items that you could take freely before will be considered owned and must be stolen. There are fences who’ll buy stolen goods—if you can get past the guards while you have a bounty on your head. These are large changes to the game, and go hand-in-hand with our vision to add more freedom and sandbox-style elements to the world. It’s going to be a lot of fun, and we just need to make sure that we phase it in carefully to ensure the best experience for everyone.

The blog post also pointed out that the developers want the Champion and Justice systems to be fully implemented before they release the console versions of The Elder Scrolls Online.
