Frontier Cut Jobs as Coaster Park Tycoon is Announced

by on January 27, 2015

Frontier Developments, the people behind Elite: Dangerous, the highly acclaimed space exploration game, have today revealed they have begun development on their latest title – Coaster Park Tycoon.

The game will be self-published and the game will run as a second franchise alongside their continued work on Elite.

Frontier became the leading developer of Tycoon games after its work on the RollerCoaster Tycoon franchise, in particularly the development of RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, which sold a massive 10m copies. The game set the bar high and is still considered, by many, as the best in the franchise, even though it was released over ten years ago.

Frontier, who aim to release Coaster Park Tycoon in 2016 on PC,  want to raise the bar even high with their newest edition to the franchise.

However, the news coming out of Frontier wasn’t all good, as they also announced 15 content creation roles were being made redundant. This is due to Frontier’s business emphasis being shifted to two self-published franchises and a re-focusing of development activities in Cambridge.

We wish all those affected by the redundancies the best of luck in their future endeavours.
