New Europe Universalis IV Expansion Coming in February

by on January 21, 2015

Europa Universalis IV developers, Paradox Interactive, have announced that new expansion for the grand strategy game will be coming to Window, Mac and Linux this February, entitled ‘El Dorado’.

As the title suggests, the expansion will focus on the search for the legendary city of El Dorado, and the adventures and politics of the Spanish conquest of South America.

The biggest addition to the mechanics of the game can be found in the new ‘Nation Designer’, a new tool which allows you to customise your starting nation in a champaign. It allows you to choose a host of different aspects for yourself, including your starting capital, neighbouring provinces, starting culture and leader. The new flurry of options available, combined with the new challenging, political decisions you’ll have to make, allows for even more replayability.

Other features include:

– New Nahuatl, Inti, and Mayan regions with blood sacrifices or sun worship.

– Send conquistadors to hunt for the Seven Cities of Gold, or your explorer on exploration missions around the world.

– Gold Fleet can now traffic New World wealth back to Europe, and be targeted by privateer fleets.

– Use trade fleets to hunt pirates.

– Maintain good relations with the pope in order to earn a corner of the world in the Treaty of Tordesillas.
