Xbox One April Update Details Announced

by on March 27, 2015

Details of Xbox One’s upcoming April update have been published by Microsoft after testing took place over the weekend.

The update will begin rolling out tonight on both Xbox One and Xbox 360 with focus on the game hub and communications between friends, take a look at all the updated features below.

Voice Messages

The first new feature of the update has been hotly requested: the ability to compose voice messages. Players will now be able to add audio content to their messages using a microphone or Kinect by double-tapping the Xbox button. Messages will be able to be sent between Xbox 360 and Xbox One as well.

Dedicated servers for party chat

Microsoft have began creating dedicated servers for player parties in order to improve connection quality and reliability, enabling players who may have had issues connecting to parties due to NAT issues to join parties more easily. Party chat traffic will now be handled separately from other servers.

Expansion of What’s New

Microsoft will also be expanding their What’s New section which highlights popular games, movies and TV shows. What’s On has been available to U.S. Xbox owners for the past month and the feature will now be expanded out to users in Canada and the UK.
