Destiny Taken King Year One Bonuses Possibly Revealed Next Week

by on July 3, 2015

Last week Bungie said they’d be celebrating those Guardians who have been Destinying since Day One. Next week, they’ll tell us how.

There’s been a bit of a furore about The Taken King of late. There were leaks before E3, and nothing was really thought of it, then E3 came and went and The Taken King looked good (damn good). Shortly after though things started to turn sour.

First there was the price point; the expansion on its own costs £40, with a pack containing the original game and ALL the expansion content for £55, which in comparison looks like stupidly good value. Then there was the £80 special edition of the expansion which original players would have had to buy if they wanted the extra bonuses it contained. After that, there’s the special mission(s) held behind Red Bull purchases, it’s not been a good time for Bungie’s PR, that’s for sure.

Since then, Bungie have announced that the bonuses that come with the special edition will be available to all (for a hefty price, of course), and that players who have upgraded to The Taken King digitally will get a special Sparrow, armour shader and Emblem, so, they’re getting better.

Now, Bungie are urging players to tune in to their annual community show on July 7 where they are saying they’ll fill us in on their plans for rewarding ‘Year One’ Guardians.

Remember to tune in Guardians.
