Owners of the PC Version of Minecraft will get the Windows 10 Version Free

The Windows 10 version of Minecraft was announced at Minecon this weekend. The game is being released in a beta form, so improvements can be made as time goes by, and it will be free to current PC Minecraft owners.

Around 20 million people worldwide own Minecraft for PC, so this is nothing to be sniffed at really.

If you’re one of the very few people who doesn’t own it, you’ll be able to buy into the beta for the rather nice price of $10. According to Mojang’s blog post the Windows 10 version will feature elements from the pocket editions, including the ability to set up internet or local based multiplayer sessions with Pocket Edition users.
