Oculus Thank Original Backers With Free ‘Kickstarter Edition’ Rift

by on January 5, 2016

Oculus have today announced that they will be providing the backers of the original dev kit with a free ‘Kickstarter Edition’ of the Rift, as a token of thanks for believing in their vision.

In a post on the Rift’s Kickstarter page, the team wrote: “As a small token of our appreciation for your support, all Kickstarter backers who pledged for a Rift development kit will get a free Kickstarter Edition Oculus Rift! And like all Rift pre-order purchasers, you’ll receive a bundled copy of Lucky’s Tale and EVE: Valkyrie.”

Backers will be sent a survey before February 1 in which they can enter their address in order to receive their free Rift, but must reside in one of the 20 countries which the Oculus is launching in. The team say they are “working on an alternative” and backers who don’t reside in one of the launch countries can let Oculus know their preference in the survey.

Pre-orders for the retail version of Oculus will go live tomorrow at 8AM EST (4PM GMT), but final pricing and a release date have yet to be announced.
