Countdown timer appears on Deus Ex: Mankind Divided site

by on May 19, 2016

A countdown timer has appeared on the Augaware site for Deus Ex: Mankind Divided site, apparently teasing an imminent announcement next Thursday.

The logo of A.R.C. (the Augmented Rights Coalition) flickers on screen before the timer appears. At the time of writing, the timer displayed 07:03:40:47 — meaning it will expire next Thursday at 2PM BST. The Augaware website builds on lore of the Deus Ex series, urging a message of keeping humanity pure and free from augmentation. The website displays a false news post which discusses a terror attack in Prague, with augmented terrorists suspected to be the perpetrators.

“A series of coordinated bomb blasts tore through downtown Prague yesterday morning, killing dozens and renewing fears of large-scale terrorist mayhem against the city,” the news post reads. “Rail travel to the downtown core is being rerouted, while forensic investigators comb the bomb site for answers.

This morning it remained unclear who is responsible. But given the growing tensions surrounding the city’s controversial decision to relocate augmented citizens to the neighboring Utulek Complex, this latest attack suggests that augmented terrorists may be responsible.”

It is currently unknown what the timer is counting down to, but we’ll be there at the end when it finally hits zero.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided launches August 23 on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
