Ubisoft acquires mobile game publisher Ketchapp

Ubisoft just announced that it acquired mobile game publisher Ketchapp.

Ketchapp has a huge portfolio of games that are successful and they were even in the press recently for the free to play game 2048 that is a clone of the lovely Threes! Jean-Michel Detoc, Ubisoft’s mobile director, had the following to say:

“With Ketchapp, Ubisoft acquires a highly profitable publisher with a successful portfolio of free-to-play games for mobile.This acquisition gives Ubisoft one of the world’s leading mobile game publishers and reinforces our advertising capabilities in mobile gaming.”

Ketchapp has games that have been downloaded more than 700 million times. With this acquisition Ubisoft is now the fourth largest mobile game publisher when measured by download numbers.
