Vita is a great machine but too late says former Sony executive Jack Tretton

Jack Tretton speaks about his time at Sony and the PlayStation Vita to IGN on IGN Unfiltered.

Jack Tretton was asked about the Vita and where it stands in the gaming landscape and he told IGN the following:

“Now that I don’t work there anymore, I think internally it was: ‘This is a great machine, it’s just too late.’ The world has shifted to portable devices that aren’t dedicated gaming machines.”

He also spoke about the PSP and how it brought console quality experiences to the handheld space with IGN. The full episode will be posted tomorrow on IGN Unfiltered.

The PlayStation Vita is in an interesting space. It is getting consistent localizations from publishers of Japanese games, ports of Indie games, and is even a fantastic platform for rhythm games but we all know its fate in the AAA gaming landscape.

Thanks, IGN.
