The Persistence announced for PS4 and PSVR

Firesprite has announced that it’s next title will be a first person stealth/horror exclusive for Sony’s PS4 called “The Persistence” and that it will feature support for PSVR.

The titular Persistance is also the name of the deep space research vessel on which the game is set and where players will be awoken by the ship’s computer “IRIS” in the year 2521. Upon their awakening each crew member must attempt to travel to the ship’s engine room, while avoiding their mutated shipmates, and to rescue The Persistence from being pulled into a collapsing star but if a crew member dies, they stay dead and an entirely new protagonist is awoken from cryosleep.

A companion app will also be released that allows 4 others to manipulate the main player’s ship computer and either help or hinder them by controlling doors, attracting enemy attention and disabling traps (or not).

“Stealth Horror is a perfect match for VR. Not only for the sense of presence that virtual reality brings, but also for the natural control head tracking offers. Sneaking around and hiding behind cover; it’s second nature in VR to just lean round or peek over cover to gain the advantage,” Commented Lead Designer, Alex Moore.

No release window has yet been given for The Persistence but it will launch exclusive to PS4 and PSVR.
