Microgaming Taking the Appropriate Steps to a Healthier Casino Experience

Back in the days, the words “fair gambling” and “fair casino” were pure talk among players who were fed up with their negatively skewed chances. Nowadays, for the first time in decades, we are getting to feel, first-hand, how decentralized betting is changing the gambling experience for the better.

By integrating blockchain technology, the once vague promise of an incorruptible digital ledger for online transactions is finally becoming a reality. Eventually, more and more casinos featuring Microgaming are looking to capitalize on what is now known as the “Internet of Tomorrow.”

The goal is to offer players the transparency, verifiability, consistent uptime they deserve, leading to a fairer gambling scene for all those involved. As a general rule of thumb, high-profit gambling platforms owned by single entities are renowned for running on dated technology stacks, and the solution is to create a safer and more efficient environment which encourages community-driven betting.

But, these are not the only steps taken for creating a healthier casino experience, and this article will explore more than just meets the eye. By the end of it, you might even view the betting scene from an entirely different experience.

The Microgaming experience

For those who aren’t yet in the know, Microgaming Software Systems Ltd is a privately-owned Isle of Man software development business that released the first genuine online casino, all the way back in 1994.

Considered one of the leading software providers to the online gambling industry, they incorporate big names such as the Fortune Lounge Group, the Carmen Media Group, the Palace Group, and 32Red.

A fantastic aspect of Microgaming is that it features over six hundred games including slots, blackjack, video poker, and roulette. Available in either Flash or download version these games from microgaming casinos with no deposit bonuses offer something for everyone, particularly when it comes to ensuring cross-platform compatibility.

Plus, there are a plethora of exciting jackpots through their interlinked network of casino operators, which makes the entire experience even better. In fact, it’s noteworthy that Microgaming’s progressive jackpot network is the largest in the world, already having paid out more than €848 million to date. If that wasn’t enough, the company won the Guinness World Records title for the most substantial jackpot pay-out in an online slot machine, with a lucky player having won €17,879,645.12 from a 25p spin; all in day’s work!

Here are some of the most recent jackpots from just one of their slots (Mega Moolah):

Total Amount Time & Date
£1,778,226.80 21:30 UTC 20/04/2018
£5,690,053.82 23:30 UTC 19/04/2018
£4,365,836.88 02:30 UTC 08/03/2018

But, the company isn’t solely about big numbers. Instead, it appears that both operators and players are genuinely interested in the overall experience. Case in point, Microgaming is a founding member of the eCOGRA, otherwise known as the e-Commerce Online Gaming Regulation and Assurance.

The goal is to set the standard in responsible and fair gambling, which back in the day was merely an idea. Microgaming is therefore interested in giving back to the community, which is precisely what we will discuss next.

Raising The Bar

Success would not be possible without the people who are supporting the industry, and Microgaming is one of the companies that understand that. To show their appreciation, the gambling site gave back to their community and those tackling a vast number of issues which affect both children and adults, including education, sport, and health.

Using their CSR initiative, Microgaming PlayItForward, a donation of £12,680 donation was made to the Young Gamblers Education Trust (YGAM). The efforts are designed to help the independent charity expand its gambling-related harm prevention programme to the Isle of Man.

Plus, the YGAM organization focuses on also raising awareness of the danger of gambling, particularly for younger adults. Within the last three years, they have expanded their area of course application, delivering workshops all across the United Kingdom, Netherlands, Gibraltar, and Malta.

Naturally, without the funds to support this program, all efforts would come to a halt. That’s why Microgaming is more than taking the appropriate steps to a healthier casino experience, and ultimately an industry which will appear as responsible rather than money-greedy.

To build upon this point, the head of Compliance at Microgaming, Kimberley Broad, gave the following statements:

“Promoting responsible gaming and supporting our local community are hugely important to us, so we were naturally keen to support YGAM in extending its accredited programme to the Isle of Man.

All in all, the company expressed how impressed they were with the charity’s success across multiple nations, and with their ability to speak out and increase awareness of gambling-related harm. Hopefully, their word can soon reach other communities, helping develop more and more important training workshops.

The Underlying Training Sessions

With the new donations, YGAM can take its first steps in introducing this programme to the Isle of Man, working alongside schools and the local government for implementing its ‘Train the Trainer’ workshops. Not only will these sessions be aimed at young people, but also:

  • Youth workers
  • Community volunteers
  • Teachers
  • Other members of the community who are looking to develop resilience.

Plus, the Microgaming programme is intended to help facilitate the delivery of accredited training concerning player protection and how to move forward in life.

The Chief Executive at YGAM, Lee Willows, added that Microgaming has been pushing towards making this collaboration happen and that this project and the funds given to them by the company offer an excellent opportunity to take the education programme to the Isle of Man. Of course, there is no stopping there, as the primary goal is also to introduce and deliver an accredited and official training programme that will expand across communities.

“We are hugely grateful for the donation from Microgaming PlayItForward because we believe that taking our programmes to the Isle of Man will enable us to engage with another professional audience –ultimately gaining valuable feedback on the relevance and educational content.”

We much believe in this collaboration having the capability of changing the game, mainly because the PlayItForward initiative encompasses the Microgaming corporate social responsibility programme, which significantly focuses on education, charity, health, and community values.
