As someone who has never been too interested in WoW (don't hurt me!) I am interested to know what got you guys and gals into the game? Also, what keeps you coming back to it?

Oh and with the pending release of the Star Wars MMO, do you think this might affect the "popularity" of WoW?

Discuss! :)

Well WoW was my first MMO if you dn't count a few hours of runescape. The main thing that drew me in was the huge colourful world and the exploration that comes with it.

What keeps me in the game is the great raid encounters and boss battles, just imagine doing a complex God of War boss with 24 other people.

Wow was my first MMO also, a couple of my mates had been playing for a few months and kept suggesting that I tried it. I kept putting it off because at the time the thought of paying a monthly subscription for a game you have already bought felt like a right load of crap, but, I eventually gave in.

Glad I did, its a game with so many things to keep you entertained. Its a game that you can just switch on for a few mins and leave it again without feeling like youve missed out on anything or have forgotten where you were in a storyline/quest ect. Its a game that you can literally play for 12 hours a day and not be bored (or even find yourself doing the same thing twice)! Its got a massive social aspect, brilliant story lines to follow, fantastic scenery (although some places are really dull and plain) some of the best encounters of any game I have ever played, yes all the final fantasy's included, and the fact there is always summin to do!

I have tried to get away from WoW, trying many different games but all have failed to replace that magic touch that brings me back to WoW. What that magic touch is I cant quite say, but its there alright!

Unlike the other two, this was not my first MMO. Guild Wars, Jumpgate, EVE.. played a fair few before I bothered to play WoW. And to be honest I really am not sure what it is that keeps drawing me back.

I have a rather crap computer, so I can't play it on high graphics, so its not that.. I'm usually not my best during high end encounters, I generally do them cause its more fun than not doing them. And theres also the little detail of not having to pvp if I don't really want to.. though blindsiding an alliance with pvp on while hes questing is not out of the question.

I think its just the whole soul of the game, its fun, its regularly updated.. theres no other costs other than the subscription, and the community cares about the game. And of course the game developers play it.. even those working for other MMO developers.

And with the Kotor MMO? It just fills a different niche in the market. A WoW killer? I sincerely doubt it. Aion was meant to be THE WoW killer when it came out. But within a month three quarters of all players that left WoW to play it, had returned.
Though I am looking forward to play it.. hopefully with a computer that can in fact actually play it.
