September 10th, the day we get a FIFA 10 demo.

Earlier today EA officially kicked off GamesCom and with that gave us some new information about FIFA 10. First of all it looks like a demo will be released to the public on September 10th. This hasn’t been officially confirmed yet but it is something we noticed on the official FIFA 10 website a few hours ago. The website has a countdown that currently says 23 days and of course that countdown ends on September 10th! The image of this countdown can be seen on the left, you know just incase you don’t believe us. 😉

On to the “important” stuff now eh?! During the EA press conference loads of new details about FIFA 10 were revealed by the game producer, David Rutter. A full of list of the new features and enhancements can be seen if you click here but for now I will talk about the more interesting ones.

After much waiting FIFA will finally get a proper practice arena where you can practice various aspects of your game and even get an offline match going. I know a certain someone on the GodisaGeek team (he shall remain annonymous) has been asking for this feature for a while now, mainly so he can practice his manual shooting! All the other “exciting” news comes in the form of gameplay enhancements and hopefully they will serve their purpose to make a top game even better. Defensive urgency and intelligent goalkeepers sound like music to my ears (and most other FIFA 09 players). Hopefully now defenders won’t just stand still while an opposition player ghosts in unmarked to score a goal and goalkeepers will react much faster to rebounds. I have lost count how many times my keeper has just stood there like a zombie while the ball slowly goes past him after a rebound! I also like the sound of the new set-piece editor, this will allow for some creative free-kick/corner routines rather than the bog standard ones FIFA 09 currently has. This feature won’t be available during online play though, in the interest of fairness of course. Enough of me rambling on though, EA have also released a trailer that shows off some of these new features and enchancements which can be seen below. Enjoy!
