Square Enix have today announced that Dissidia 012[duodecim] Final Fantasy will be released across Europe in 2011 exclusively for the PSP. The title is the follow-up to Dissidia Final Fantasy, a beat ’em up and RPG hybrid, which brought together various characters (both heroes and villians) from the Final Fantasy series. Interestingly enough, the original was also a PSP exclusive game.

We know what you’re thinking, “what does that crazy looking title mean?”. Well, according to the press release, “the title refers to the ‘12th battle’ (duodecim means 12 in Latin), a new war between Cosmos and Chaos, that forms the basis of the story”. I guess you really do learn something new every day!

Square Enix are stating that Dissidia 012[duodecim] Final Fantasy will inculde “new game modes, story missions, items, alternate costumes and combat features, expanding upon the action and excitement of Dissidia Final Fantasy in every way“.
