Christmas is coming early this year for Assassin’s Creed fans, as Ubisoft have announced the release of a free downloadable content pack entitled “Animus Project Update 1.0”, which will be available from December 14th. “We are very thrilled to be able to offer the first Multiplayer DLC for ‘Assassin’s Creed Brotherhood’ for absolutely free,” states Ubisoft Montreal executive producer Sebastien Puel. It was a way “to say thank you to our fans for making Brotherhood such a huge success its opening week. We are very proud of the unique and innovative Multiplayer mode it offers, and hope the fans enjoy the new content.”

The update includes a new multiplayer mode and map. The new mode is entitled Advanced Alliance, and like Advanced Wanted, it is basically a revised version of the regular Alliance Mode with an increased difficulty level, making target identification more difficult. The new map will take us to a previously untouched country – being based in Normandy in France. The Mont Saint-Michel map focuses on narrow streets, mutli-tier buildings and the iconic bell-tower of the eponymous Church. An extra map will spice things up somewhat, and it ooks to be another stunning location architecturally. The updates might be minor, but at the price – who is going to complain?
