Microsoft are gearing up in preparation for their big Xbox Nations free Gold weekend as they prepare for a World Record attempt. The Xbox LIVE community are aiming to make history, with an attempt to put on the ‘largest online 100m sprint’. At 18:00 GMT on Saturday 23rd April, across Xbox LIVE and Kinect Sports, users will be able to attempt to set a new Guinness World Record, just by running the one hundred Metres sprint in-game. Microsoft want to give as many gamers as possible the chance to participate, as Xbox LIVE Gold will be free this weekend across many countries arounf the world.

To take part in the record-breaking attempt, users must:

– First, to log your participation sign into your Xbox LIVE account, find Xbox Nations on the dashboard, and follow the instructions to download the Guinness World Record gamerpic before the official start time of 18:00

– Before the race starts, load your copy of Kinect Sports, choose Mini-Games from the Main Menu screen, select 100m Dash and then how many people you would like to participate (1 – 4 players). Finally, select Continue and you’re ready to race in the 100m mini-game!

– At 18:00, run the 100m dash as normal, with up to four people

If being a world record holder isn’t enough, we’ll also reward you with an exclusive Xbox LIVE and Guinness World Record Avatar T-shirt. There will also be a whole host of other amazing ‘Play and Win’ prizes available through Xbox LIVE throughout the weekend, including:

· Chance to meet and train with WBA World super lightweight champion Amir Khan

· A pair of VIP Premier League tickets for a match of your choice during the 2011/2012 season

· Reebok trainers and clothing

· Microsoft Points

· Free Zune Passes

Microsoft held an official warm-up for the weekend last week, as they gathered a selection of British athletes to take part in their own 100 Metres race. So why not try to emulate their feats and help make history this weekend – all from the comfort of your own home.

The Guinness World Record attempt is part of Xbox Nations, a free LIVE weekend offering all members the chance to experience Gold membership features for free from 9am Thursday 21st April until 11.59pm on Monday 25th April.
