Flame Red Nintendo 3DS Hitting US Shelves This September

by on August 10, 2011

Nintendo has today announced that a Flame Red Nintendo 3DS will go on sale in the United States on the 9th September. The new colour will join the Aqua Blue and Cosmos Black units that are already available in the region and will accompany the release of Starfox 64 3D, which goes on sale on the same date.

There is no word yet whether the Flame Red 3DS will be sold in the UK, but with the price cuts coming to the console worldwide this month, we will hedge our bets and say we are more than likely to see the colour sold in other regions, especially in the run up to the Christmas period.

“Nintendo 3DS is poised to be on fire for the holidays, with its new suggested retail price, great games and our new Flame Red colour,” said Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime.

“With major upcoming releases in the Star Fox, Pokémon and Mario series, in addition to downloadable offerings from Nintendo eShop, Nintendo Video and Netflix, the system offers new and fun experiences to owners on a daily basis.”

In other related news, GameStop’s UK site is currently selling the Cosmos Black 3DS for £134.97, and is the first in the UK to begin selling the 3DS at the cheaper price.

What do you think of the new colour? Will the price cut to the 3DS make it more likely that you buy one?

As always, we will keep you updated on any news of a UK Flame Red release.
