The Latest Suda51 Project: Lollipop Chainsaw Gets A Launch Trailer

by on August 16, 2011

Concept art and charactger images from the game may have been kicking around the internet for a while now, but today Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment and Grasshopper Manufacture are officially announcing the game, with a brand new debut trailer. Slated for release in 2012 for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, the game comes from the man who brought you No More Heroes, Killer 7 – and more recently – Shadows of The Damned, Suda51. The title is co-created by James Gunn, the Hollywood writer responsible for Slither and the 2004 Dawn of The Dead remake.

Continuing their horror-themed catalogue of work, the team are tackling High-School horror, a’la Buffy The Vampire Slayer, as Lollipop Chainsaw features a Cheerleader – Juliet Starling – who kills Zombies when she isn’t busy at school, using her trusty Chainsaw/Shotgun hybrid.

Lollipop Chainsaw is the ‘un-deadly’ story of sweet and killer zombie hunter Juliet Starling and her quest to uncover the root of a colossal zombie outbreak. With her wickedly awesome chainsaw in hand, Juliet slices, dices and splits her way through hordes of the undead, but soon realizes the horde is only the opening act to a festival of zombie rock lords determined to kill the chainsaw wielding cheerleader.

All sound a bit confusing? Check out the trailer below:
