Trion-Worlds-Launch-Rift-Lite-and-1.7-UpdateIf you’ve been listening to the latest podcast to join our network (Ding!) then you’ll be well aware that whilst Rift isn’t perhaps as massively popular as World of Warcraft – but hey, what is? – it is a very well put together MMORPG with a loyal fanbase.

As well as releasing update 1.7: Carnival of the Ascended (more on that in a moment), Trion Worlds have released Rift Lite, a version of the game that allows anyone with a Trion Worlds account to play up to level 20 for free, with no playtime restrictions.

Scott Hartsman, Executive Producer of Rift had this to say: “In the past ten months, Rift has evolved at a breakneck pace, through seven massive updates that set new expectations for live MMOs, in features, in content, and in service, we think a Lite edition with no time limit is the best way for players to see what an amazing experience Rift continues to be.”

So, if you’ve been tempted to try Rift but never actually gotten around to it, now most certainly seems the time. Following this link to try it right now!

The 1.7: Carnival of the Ascended update also brings plenty of new features to the world of Rift:

  • PvP Improvements – Smoother advancement and better rewards
  • Ascended Weddings – Share eternity with your soulmate, Telara-style
  • River of Souls Chronicle – Undead adventure for two
  • New Master Mode Dungeon – Caduceus Rise
  • Expert Dungeon Overhaul – More options, better loot!
  • Better Endgame Equipment – Improved loot for your endgame Ascended
On top of that, we also have a selection of new screenshots available for you today, all from the 1.7 update.
