Boyfriend Maker Gets Taken off the App Store for References of Paedophilia and Violent Sex

Boyfriend Maker Gets Taken off the App Store for References of Paedophilia and Violent SexThe popular chat bot app that I’m sure you’ve seen images of on your Twitter feed has been removed from the iOS App Store. PocketGamer has reported on the game’s removal, stating that references to paedophilia and violent sexual acts are the reasons behind the virtual dating app’s disappearance.

Boyfriend Maker has an age rating of 4+, but the 36 You developed title features a third party chat engine that has been developed by SimSimi – who’s chat app remains on the App Store and has an age rating of 17+. SimSimi’s chat bot allows users to suggest potential answers to other players, possibly leading to the explicit content. When Boyfriend Maker was available on the App Store, there was a disclaimer that said the bot’s responses are “the sole responsibility of such third-party engine (API) and not of 36You”.

Some of the things that the virtual boyfriend would spew were terrifying, to be honest. We won’t be posting any of them here, but if you’re curious, I’m sure they’re only a Google search away.
