New Mega Man For Consoles? Capcom Hints At 1,000,000th Mega Man SequelWe already knew that there was not going to be any new Mega Man action this year, which marked the 25th anniversary of Capcom’s maligned, many-sequeled mascot-of-sorts. The only glimpse of “The Blue Bomber” that we had this year was the “Bad Boxart” piss-take character that appeared in the PlayStation 3 and Vita ports of Street Fighter X Tekken, and played on the notoriously terrible Western illustrations that adorned early “Mega” releases.

Fans of the Artist Also Known As Rockman need fear not, however. For we have recieved word that rumours of the series’ demise have been greatly exaggerated. In an interview with Nintendo Power (via Siliconera), Capcom USA Senior VP Christian Svensson has revealed that there will be more Mega Man games. Plenty more.

I can say with certainty that you’ve not seen the last of the Blue Bomber on consoles and handhelds. With luck, we’ll be celebrating his 50th anniversary, including all of the games you are going to enjoy over the next 25 years!

But in a swerve turn to avoid giving too much away, Svensson went all coy on our asses; “That said, an issue we’ve had in the past has been talking about games and announcing them before we’re certain they are going to come out, which unfortunately has led to profound disappointment for many fans. So for now, I am going to have to stay mum about the details.”

Wooo. Well time will tell what Capcom have got up their sleeve, but for now you will have to dig out your old download of Mega Man 10 for
Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network or WiiWare, and start praying.
