God of War: Ascension Single-Player Demo Ships With Total Recall Blu-Ray. Eh?The award for Most Bizarre Marketing Cross-Over of the Week has to go to Sony for this one.

A high concept sci-fi action flick and a gratuitously violent, deicidal romp through ancient Greece might seem like strange bedfellows, but according to a story on the PlayStation Blog, Sony’s marketing bods apparently disagree. Bundled into the Director’s Cut Blu-Ray edition of the Colin Farrel-starring remake of classic Arnie vehicle Total Recall is a code entitling you to download the single player demo for God of War: Ascension.

The demo isn’t live just yet, but the code will grant you immediate access when it launches next year and let you sample the blood-soaked delights of Kratos’ latest adventure. With the multiplayer closed beta already underway and proving to be surprisingly deep, the prequel has every chance of turning out to be the greatest God of War yet.

God of War: Ascension will be released on PlayStation 3 on March 22 2013.
