Telltale-Aiming-for-an-Autumn-2013-Roll-out-of-The-Walking-Dead-Season-TwoAfter some initial reports on The Walking Dead season two, it looks like gamers will actually get to play it, later this year.

Speaking with Eurogamer at the BAFTA Games Awards about season two, Telltale Games’ CEO Dan Connors said;

“We’re aiming for fall next year…[Season Two] will be more related to our stuff than the [TV] show, but any time we can get close to the [TV] show, we love that””

Following this, Game Informer reached out to Telltale and received clarification on Connors’ comments;

“The current estimated release window for Season Two of The Walking Dead is for fall of ‘this’ year (2013), and not ‘next’ year (2014) as has been reported after a recent interview. We apologize for any confusion and thank you and all of our fans for your continued excitement for Telltale’s series.”

Obviously, fans of the series will be delighted with this news after Connors said that gamers would have to wait until 2014. In relation to what Whitta said to IGN about there being “something extra” between season one and two, Connors stated that;

“We’ll probably have something to announce fairly soon about what we’re going to do. It’ll be different”

With the next-generation being ushered in sooner rather than later, most have been worried about whether or not their game saves would carry over to the second season of Telltale’s GOTY winning The Walking Dead. In an interview with IGN, Kevin Boyle and Kevin Bruner said;

“Season 2 will read what you did in Season 1 and that will tailor some of the things that happened in Season 2. They’ll be a lot more social and in-between episode features for Season 2 that definitely exploit what the new platforms have to offer. We’re super-excited about PlayStation 4 and what all the other big console manufacturers have in store…We’re in close contact with Sony and they understand what is the secret recipe of The Walking Dead so expect that we’ll be talking about it soon.

Things sound positive for the possibility of game saves being carried over between systems, but we’ll have to wait a little bit longer to find out more on that one. Plus, the fact that the scheduled release date is this Autumn and not next, means that gamers may be playing the second season on current-gen systems, anyway.

The studio is currently at work on their adaptation of Fables – which you can read more about in our interview with Kevin Boyle and Kevin Bruner of Telltale Games.
