Deep Silver Not too Keen on the Wii U?

Deep-Silver-Are-Not-Wii-U-FansA kindly soul over on NeoGAF has transcribed select parts of a GameInformer interview with Deep Silver, and they don’t appear to be in love with the device.

When asked if they have next-gen or Wii U plans, they responded:

Not Wii U. With other companies, I’ve been very successful with Nintendo. With Wii U, the Nintendo market right now and their audience is not who we reach best. It’s not something we’re entertaining in the near or foreseeable future.

When asked about their strategy for the PS4 and next Xbox:

I would safely say that you’ll see us there, but not on the first day. It’s the same reason, the pioneer versus the settler…being there on the first day, that’s for the big boys

This isn’t good news. With Deep Silver recently making a serious play to become one of the big boys, with Saints Row 4, etc. But it’s still early days for the Wii U, and if the install base grows, you could probably assume that more support will come. But this does back up the reply to our question when we interviewed Sebastian Reichert, the Creative Producer on Dead Island: Riptide. We asked him: Any chance of a Wii U version? Having your inventory on a second screen could be pretty cool!

His response:

Well, we liked Zombi U for some of its really creative ideas, but generally speaking, Nintendo platforms are really nice for Nintendo games. As long as we do not get a call about turning Zelda and Mario into bloodthirsty braindead killers, it’s thanks, but no thanks.

What do you think of this? Angry, upset, ambivolent?
