New Indie Studio Set Up by One-Time LA Noire and Whore of the Orient Devs

by on May 28, 2013

Formerly of Team Bondi (LA Noire) and KMM Games (Whore of the Orient), Alex Carlyle and Kelly Baigent have co-founded new independent developer, Intuitive Game Studios.

Speaking with MCV, Carlyle sounded hopeful about the project and creating video games in his native Australia:

“I really do want to stay in Australia and try and overcome the drive which is leading everyone to Canada or the like. I want to stay here and make games and hopefully be able to sustain a small studio, provide employment and jobs here.”

Of course, Brendan McNamara’s story is well documented and one that saw the death of Team Bondi after LA Noire’s release. The games division of Kennedy Miller Mitchell took on a lot of the Bondi staff, but Whore of the Orient’s development appears to be full of roadblocks. Last month, the game’s fate looked in jeopardy as many were let-go, but KMM’s Doug Mitchell issued a statement that insinuated the game would still become a reality.

Carlyle was design lead on LA Noire, whilst Baigent contributed to the storyboarding on the game. They both found themselves unemployed in the wake of last month’s lay-offs. They haven’t confirmed any plans for Intuitive, as of yet.
