Initial Sonic Lost World Trailer is Surprisingly Good

Brace yourselves…the debut trailer for Sonic Lost World looks really good. Weird, I know!

Announced at the latest Nintendo Direct, Nintendo have signed up Sega’s blue boy to appear on three Nintendo exclusive titles – Sonic Lost World being one of them. All we got on that day was a screenshot, but today we got so much more.

The trailer, which you can see below courtesy of IGN, shows the speedy annoyance up against a gang of new foes that bear a striking resemblance to Space Jam‘s MonStars. There was no sign of Dr. Robotnik/Eggman, but there’s no doubt the rotund scientist will show up in the game, which is scheduled to be released, later this year.

The thing that has people talking is how similar it looks to Super Mario Galaxy. Of course, it’s not all Mario as the Blue Blur’s pace appears to differentiate the gameplay a bit, but swirling worlds are present. Also, the video seems to show a Sonic Generations-esque natural switch between 2D and 3D. On top of that, the hedgehog is sporting some new moves including the ability to run on walls.

There’s a highly probable chance that this will be released and leave a bad taste in long-time fans’ mouths – just like many of the Sonic games in recent memory – however, at this very moment, Mega Drive kids can be happy.
