We are all fiending for that next title from thatgamecompany – what with the majestic Journey being one of our favourite games of last year and all. Until that happens, today’s announcement – as seen on IGN – that one of their equally intriguing earlier works is getting a PlayStation Vita release will do very nicely, thank you kindly.

Flower originally came to the PlayStation 3 as a download back in 2009, where it garnered critical acclaim for its soothing, highly original gameplay. Effectively playing as the wind, your job is to guide a solitary petal around the landscape, gathering up other petals. Katamari Damacy it aint. thatgamecompany have released a statement which says the new version will include “simple touch or motion controls” – which would seem and absolutely excellent and intuitive way to play the game.

Handheld Flower will be appearing at the IndieCade booth at E3 2013.
