In an effort to rejuvenate Microsoft as a whole, CEO Steve Ballmer has outlined some big structure changes at the company.

With the departure of Don Mattrick, Julie Larson-Green was heavily rumoured to be assuming his role within their games division – as well as other hardware. Today, that was confirmed as Larson-Green has been named as head of Microsoft’s Devices and Studios Engineering Group. The official blurb from Microsoft is below:

Julie Larson-Green will lead this group and will have all hardware development and supply chain from the smallest to the largest devices we build. Julie will also take responsibility for our studios experiences including all games, music, video and other entertainment.

“One Microsoft” is the name of Ballmer’s mission statement. He’s looking to unite the company and prove to be a force in all avenues, once again.

In terms of video games, Larson-Green has a big battle on her hands with Xbox One and will truly be tested in the coming months, leading up to launch.
