Nintendo 3DS UK Game Sales Top £22 Million For Year so Far

by on July 15, 2013

It would be fair to say Nintendo had a rough start with the 3DS, sales were slow, so much so that the Japanese giants slashed the handhelds price within months of its initial release. A year and a half on, and the transformation in fortunes has been very impressive indeed. The 3DS is cool, damn it.

According to CVG, sales figures show that over 800,000 3DS games sold via retail outlets during the first six months of 2013 in the UK, with nearly half that total selling in May and June. This is hardly surprising, as Animal Crossing, Luigi’s Mansion 2 and Fire Emblem all released in this period, and what a period it was, too. Three cracking games, we’ve hardly put our 3DS’ down these past few months.

While the 3DS goes from strength to strength, Nintendo will want to make sure its home console, the Wii U, picks up enough momentum in time for the Christmas period. Impending releases from Nintendo’s stable of big names should help, and at this price, who knows, it could be a very good year for Nintendo indeed.
