Senran Kagura Burst Launching in Europe in February

by on January 17, 2014

Senran Kagura Burst, the hectic Ninja beat-em-up featuring big boobs and bigger combos, will be released in Europe on February 27th.

Well, that’s digital. February 27th for the digital release, February 28th for the physical release. A physical release in a mighty interesting box

But what is Senran Kagura Burst? It’s a nippy lil’ combo fighter that feels more as if it was born from the Japanese indie scene. The combat here is much less in line with the rigid combos and pace of Guardian Heroes or Dragon’s Crown, and more in the excitable zone of, say, The Dishwasher, Dust, or even the likes of Marvel vs. Capcom.

Oh, and then there’s the fact your characters shed clothes as you take damage, and the ‘hard’ difficulty has you starting in just a bikini. Think of it like a modern day Ghouls and Ghosts and it’s slightly less pervy.

Then watch the trailer, with its reminder to put the 3D effect on, and it all gets a tad more leering once again.

But y’know what? Senran Kagura is already hugely popular in Japan (I wonder why…). The series has its own manga, and accompanying anime series in its homeland, but I’d like to think it’s the gameplay that has had European fans clamouring to get a western release.

Anyway, I think it actually looks fun to play, but I may have to plump for the digital release just so the box isn’t lying around the house…
