Batman: Arkham Knight Swooping onto Next-Gen This Year

by on March 4, 2014

Warner Bros. Interactive have announced that Rocksteady’s third and final game in the Arkham-verse, titled Batman: Arkham Knight, will launch on PS4, Xbox One and PC later this year.

That’s right, there won’t be a version of Batman Arkham Knight released on Xbox 360, PS3 or Wii U. This is purely a ‘next-gen’ (or is it current-gen now?) thing.

So what does the added tech bump bring? A summonable Batmobile, that’s what.

Game Informer have most the details, as can be read on Neogaf here, but the exciting stuff includes a useable Batmobile complete with ejector seat for launching yourself into glides around the city before ‘crashing through windows’, and all other sorts of Batman-ly shenanigans.

Narrative-wise it’s all about Scarecrow. Mr. Hallucination is playing puppet master, pulling together a host of The Dark Knight’s main villains for a huge onslaught against The Bat.

Check out the trailer below, too, for a glimpse of Rocksteady’s Batmobile, and many hints as to the new and improved gameplay on offer.

It certainly sounds interesting though, as one of the people that preferred Askylum over City, this appears to be moving even further away from what made Asylum so good and more into Grand Theft Batman territory. Make it good, Rocksteady…
