Nowhere Studios Release Monochroma Trailer

by on April 29, 2014

Indie developer Nowhere Studios have today launched a teaser trailer for Monochroma, their upcoming platform game.

Pitched as a story-driven platformer, the game conveys narrative in game only, with no cut-scenes, text or dialogue, all tied up with a striking visual aesthetic. Set in an alternate 1950’s dystopian state, two brothers work to solve puzzles to progress further into the game, with the aim of saving their world from an evil corporation, over four chapters.

The game’s producer, Burak Tezateşer explains what the team are aiming to achieve:

Monochroma is a game that questions the essence of playing a video game. A game might entertain players, make them feel good about themselves, or even help them socialize; but a good game should also be able to satisfy players emotionally and intellectually, make players think about their lives, society and the system they are living in the same way a good movie or novel does

Inspired by the violent 2013 Gezi Protests in Turkey, the game explores themes such as that of control, disinformation of media and child labor. In addition, for every copy sold on their website, Nowhere Games will donate $1 to Save The Children. They will also be donating 15% of their revenue made in Turkey to an charitable organisation for homeless children.
