Phonics Fun with Biff, Chip & Kipper Coming to 3DS

by on August 1, 2014

Isn’t it great when you see something in the media that was around when you were a kid? You know, the sort of thing that makes you think “HA! I’m not old after all!”. Well, this story made this particular Twenty-Something writer (ok, not that old) feel like his childhood really wasn’t that long ago at all. You remember the Biff, Chip and Kipper books, right? No? Old fart.

Oxford University Press are bringing ‘Phonics Fun with Biff, Chip & Kipper’ to 3DS this coming September 12th in three separate volumes, each one aimed at children with different reading abilities, 1-6. The games won’t just be ebooks on a 3D screen though, with each of the volumes brimming with games devised by educational experts that are designed to reward the reader as they learn, you know, like a video game kinda does. Play, reward, repeat.

Phonics Fun with Biff, Chip & Kipper will feature fully spoken instructions, mic playback so kids can check on their pronunciation, and parents are encouraged to keep track of their child’s progress by checking out stats on how they are doing. We may be a bit biased, being a games site, but learning on the 3DS? Sounds like a good, engaging idea to us.

Phonics Fun with Biff, Chip & Kipper will be available for Nintendo 3DS and 2DS from September 12th.
