ESL One Is The Biggest eSports Event On The East Coast

by on October 17, 2014

Last week the ESL invaded Madison Square Garden and brought Dota 2 to the New York Super Week. The two-day event has been crowned as the biggest eSports event on the east coast ever by bringing in over 5,000 attendees and 2 million viewers.

ViCi Gaming managed to walk away as winners (and the lions share of the $130,000 prize pool) after beating American favorites Evil Geniuses in the final. The Dota that was played was refreshing to watch, as this was the first major post TI4 LAN with the latest patch. The new patch removed the sub 15-minute games and has resulted in a late game focused meta that is much more entertaining to watch, something that was evident in the final series as well as many others throughout the event.

Next up for the ESL is their Intel Extreme Masters Event in San Jose in December, while the Dota world turns to the D2CL playoffs along with The Summit 2 qualifiers and the D2L.
