PS4 Sells 2M Units in the UK

Sony’s PlayStation 4 has reached the two million sold milestone in the UK.

The games console reached the landmark over the weekend, and has done so in 19 months, faster than the PlayStation 2 managed. The PS4 is also the best selling console in 2015 so far.

Sales don’t seem to be letting up either, if anything, they’re accelerating. It took 42 weeks for the console to hit its first million, and then it reached its second million 33 weeks later.

PlayStation’s UK boss Fergal Gara said:

“Reaching the milestone of two million PlayStation 4 consoles in the UK in less than 18 months is an achievement we are very proud of.

To be the best selling ‘next generation’ console in Britain – installing faster even than the PlayStation 2 – is testament to an amazing and constantly improving product, the hard work of our trade partners and the team at PlayStation UK, and most importantly, the passion of the players. I would like to thank every one involved in helping us achieve this landmark.”

This takes the total numbers sold of the PS4 up to 22.3 million.
