Fallout 76 will not launch on Steam

Bethesda confirmed to PC Gamer that Fallout 76 will not launch on Steam.

Ever since the original reveal, some PC gamers have been wondering why Fallout 76 has no listing on Steam. Bethesda confirmed that Fallout 76 will not be launching on Steam in an email to PC Gamer. Read the full statement below:

“The PC version of Fallout 76, for both the B.E.T.A. and the launch, will be available only via Bethesda.net, not on Steam,”

This isn’t new for a big publisher because many big publishers are slowly dropping Steam for their own launcher. EA ditched Steam a while ago and now Activision is slowly going all in on Blizzard Battle.net for multiplayer games. The biggest game in the world right now, Fortnite, is also not on Steam. Big publishers are seeing less value in giving Valve a 30% cut on an open platform like PC.

Things could change post launch though but as of now if you want Fallout 76 on PC, install the Bethesda.net launcher.

Fallout 76 releases on November 14 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
