Thomas Was Alone Heading to PS3 and Vita This Year

by on February 27, 2013

Following the neon heels of Hotline Miami, another indie darling, Thomas Was Alone, is coming to PS3 and PSVita ‘very soon’.

Designer Mike Bithell scribbled a post for Sony’s Playstation Blog that detailed some new features for the Vita and PS3 release of his cube based puzzle platformer.

On PS Vita, you can use the touchscreens to select characters, or to control the camera.

We’ve made a new creator’s commentary for the main game itself, and there’s a new timed exclusive DLC prologue about a square who is given a jetpack. I’m pretty chuffed with it.

Bithall left the Thomas Was Alone developer, Bossa Studios, earlier this year. Could he be throwing his lot in with Sony? Just maybe…

Personal ambitions of talented developers aside this is an interesting development. Sony are building some sturdy bridges within the Indie scene, and every title they bring to the Vita in this sense is a minor success. Hopefully Sony sort out that PS4 not being backwards compatible thing before launch though, with PSN titles specifically, because  otherwise these might as well be Vita specific releases…

Thomas Was Alone is available now for Windows PC and Mac, and will be released in 2013 for Playstation 3 and Playstation Vita.
