Team17 returning to Publisher status, announces Light

Many of you may not remember, but Team17 — known perhaps mostly for authoring the Worms and Alien Breed series — used to be a publisher almost 20 years ago, rather than a developer. They had a good bit of a success with it as well, earning a Golden Joystick award for “Software House of the Year” in 1993.

In a press release, Team17 has announced that they are once again returning to the publishing circle after nearly two decades. Leveraging a wealth of experience within the company, the pub-turned-dev-turned-pub is looking to concentrate on raising awareness for new IPs and especially indie games, which they state are “very close to our hearts and something we stand up for.”

This was coupled with the announcement of a new game called Light from developer Just a Pixel. Judging by the trailer, Light looks to be a moody puzzle game with a striking visual design. It’s currently in Steam’s Greenlight system, so vote it up if it looks like something you’d like to play.
