PS4 Firmware v1.70 Coming Soon, Includes SHAREfactory

As is customary for modern consoles, the PlayStation 4 is due a new firmware update. Amongst the usual bug fixes and improvements, Sony have announced that the upcoming version 1.70 update will include a brand new feature called SHAREfactory.

An improved video editor for the PlayStation 4 gameplay footage you capture, you’ll be able to add things like text, effects and transitions that’ll give your videos a more professional look. You’ll even be able to capture video commentary via a PlayStation camera, and add your own custom background music.

You’ll be able to share this videos directly to Facebook, or save them to USB storage for uploading and editing on another device. In addition, HDCP will be removed, allowing direct HDMI capturing for those who prefer to use their own external devices for capturing footage.

Also joining SHAREfactory, is a welcome feature that allows you to download preordered games before their release date, allowing you to boot up and play your purchased games the moment they’re officially released.

There is no release date for 1.70, but Sony hope to share more news soon, including other new features introduced in this new firmware update.
